This copycat Chick-fil-A Strawberry Milkshake tastes so good and reminds me of drinking them when I was a kid. I recently learned that all fast food chains use strawberry jam instead of fresh strawberries in their strawberry milkshakes. This is why your homemade versions never tasted like the restaurants, but now you can replicate them at home!

    ๐Ÿฅค About This Recipe

Strawberry jam is the secret ingredient, and the more you think about it, the more you realize how much better it is than using fresh strawberries.

Firstly, strawberry jam is much more concentrated in flavor so it doesn't dilute the milkshake like fresh strawberries would. You only need two tablespoons, but it is worth more flavor than an entire cup of strawberries.

Secondly, it is very sweet so you do not need to add any additional sugar or sweeteners. Not to mention milkshakes usually need to be sweetened with a liquid sweetener like honey because solid sugar does not dissolve easily in cold drinks. And quite frankly, the flavor of honey can be overpowering. So jam is the way to go.

    ๐Ÿ“ Ingredients

    strawberry milkshake ingredients in bowls
    • Vanilla Ice Cream: If you want the milkshake to taste as close as possible to Chick-fil-A, then use "frozen dessert," which is an ice cream substitute that is cheaper and most likely what fast-food chains use. I'm using the Breyers brand frozen dessert. Frozen dessert will usually have it labeled somewhere on the box.
    • Milk: I highly recommend whole milk for this, it has more fat and makes a big difference in the creaminess.
    • Strawberry Jam: I'm using Smucker's brand because it's cheap. You can also use raspberry jam.
    • Frozen Strawberries: About 1 cup.
    • Optional: Whipped cream and maraschino cherries for topping. These are purely for aesthetics; you don't need them unless you want to copy everything about the Chick-fil-A Strawberry Milkshake.

    ๐Ÿ”ช Instructions

Before starting, I recommend freezing your serving cups and blender for 15 minutes. This will keep the milkshake colder for longer. Even just 10 minutes in the fridge is good.

STEP 1: Combine ice cream, milk, jam, and frozen strawberries in a blender. Blend on medium-high speed until everything is smooth and combined. If the milkshake gets stuck, you can use your blender's tamper to push down the ingredients. Try not to add milk though as it will get too runny.

STEP 2: Pour the milkshake into a tall glass and top it with whipped cream and maraschino cherries.
