These Honey Garlic Chicken Wings are sweet, sticky, and everything you want in a wet chicken wing! The recipe is extremely easy. I opted to bake them instead of frying them to make it easier and healthier. They come out super crispy and delicious. Ready in just under one hour!

    About This Recipe

These honey garlic wings are one of the easiest, most addictive appetizers you can make. The sauce is made with only 5 ingredients, but it comes out so sweet, sticky, savory, and irresistible! Every time I make this, my wife always says she's just going to have a few pieces, but before she even realizes it, half the pan is gone, and I haven't even started eating yet!

If you're not familiar, honey garlic is actually a Canadian invention. The sweet and savory combo is one of my favorites. The sauce is glossy, sticky, and loaded with garlicky goodness. Most of the time, it's more sweet than spicy, but every now and then, you'll get a piece with some extra garlic and get a small kick of heat!

I've been perfecting my honey garlic sauce since I was a kid. And this combination of honey, soy sauce, garlic, and just a splash of rice vinegar is my go-to.

    Key Ingredients

    ingredients prepped in bowls.

Chicken Wings: I recommend 1 pound of chicken wings per person. For my wife and me, 2 pounds is perfect. I like to buy wings that are already split into the drums and flats. If you can only find whole wings, make sure to cut them up first. I don't like cooking wings whole because they cook unevenly since they do not lie flat on the baking rack.

Oil: Helps prevent the chicken wings from sticking to the baking rack.

Baking powder: Helps crisp up the skin!

Salt & garlic powder: For flavor.

For the honey garlic sauce: You'll need honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, oil, and rice vinegar.

    Instructions

wings mixed with seasonings in bowl.

STEP 1: Dry the wings thoroughly with paper towels, then transfer to a large bowl. Add the oil, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper, and mix until evenly coated.

chicken wings seasoned and arranged on baking rack.

STEP 2: Spread the wings out on the wire rack, leaving a little space between each wing.

wings after baking; golden brown skins.

STEP 3: Bake for 45-50 minutes, turning them over once halfway through, until they are golden and crispy.

honey garlic sauce simmering and foaming in saucepan.

STEP 4: To make the sauce, add all the ingredients to a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce to a gentle simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and starts foaming.

honey garlic sauce tossed with wings in bowl.

STEP 5: Combine the wings and sauce in a large bowl, then toss to coat. Optionally garnish with some sesame seeds and parsley. Enjoy!
