These crispy baked chicken wings are a weeknight hero! They're extremely quick and easy to make, and turn out perfectly crispy and juicy every time. I love serving these with a side of carrots and celery and a bowl of rice.

    About This Recipe

I've made a lot of chicken wing recipes in my life, but these are probably the most value for time and effort. They're crispy, flavorful, juicy, and extremely easy to make. The total recipe time is about one hour, but most of that is just baking time. The only work you have to do is season the wings, arrange them on a baking sheet, and place them in the oven. You're free to do other things while they cook (I make rice and chop veggies)!

When I first got my air fryer a few years ago, chicken wings were one of the first things made in them, but they did not turn out very well. The skin didn't get crispy in the time I was told, and they got really dry because I cooked them for way too long (because they would not crisp up).

After testing, I found that coating them in a combination of flour and cornstarch gave me the crisp I was looking for.

    Key Ingredients

    ingredients prepped in bowls.

Chicken wings: Preferably separated into the drums and flats. They will be easier to arrange on the baking sheet and cook more evenly.

Olive oil: For adhering the spices to the chicken wings.

Spices: Paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt.

Cornstarch & flour: These will form the crispy coating on the outside.

    Instructions

chicken wings mixed with olive oil and spices.

STEP 1: Add the chicken wings, olive oil, and spices to a large bowl. Mix until evenly coated.

cornstarch and flour mixed with chicken wings.

STEP 2: Combine the flour and cornstarch in a small bowl. Toss with the wings.

chicken wings arranged on parchment-lined baking sheet.

STEP 3: Arrange the wings on a parchment-lined baking sheet with some space between each one.

    chicken wings after baking.

STEP 4: Bake at 450ยฐF for 30 minutes, flip, and bake for another 20-30 minutes until golden and crispy.
