Who said Buffalo Wings need to be deep-fried? I'll show you that baking in the oven is just as good, and way less calories. The buffalo sauce is made with only 3 ingredients and absolutely irresistible. I love dipping these in homemade ranch for the perfect bite!

    About This Recipe

When I think of Wing Wednesdays, buffalo wings are what come to mind first. Nothing beats them with a side of ranch sauce!

When I was a kid, I used to make buffalo wings with my parents cause we always had frozen wings in the freezer. We owned a pizza place and used our home freezer as extra storage (don't tell the health inspector). Sometimes when we didn't have food at home, my mom would let me open a box to make our own chicken wings for dinner. Buffalo wings were probably the first flavor I ever learned. And the sauce is way easier than you think.

You only need 3 ingredients! Frank's RedHot Original Sauce, butter, and brown sugar. That's it! Nowadays, Frank's actually sells a buffalo sauce version, but I think homemade tastes way better. I doubt Frank's uses real butter.

Restaurant wings are typically deep-fried for a lasting crunch, but I personally hate deep-frying at home. It's way too messy, and since I live in a condo, our vents aren't very good, so my whole place ends up smelling like oil for hours. So baking is how I usually do it.

    Key Ingredients

    ingredients prepped in bowls.

Chicken wings: Buy wings that are split into the drums and flats. If you can only find wings that are still whole, you'll have to manually separate them into the drum, flat, and tips. Discard the tips.

Oil: I add some oil to the marinade because it makes the wings less likely to stick to the baking rack when they're baking.

Baking powder: This is the secret ingredient for the restaurant-quality crispiness while not deep-frying. The baking powder forms tiny bubbles on the surface of the chicken wings, which crisp up the skin!

Seasonings: Salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.

For the buffalo sauce: As I said earlier, you'll need Frank's RedHot Original Sauce, butter, and brown sugar. White sugar also works.

    Instructions

wings being mixed with seasonings in bowl.

STEP 1: In a large bowl, toss the wings with oil, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.

wings arranged on baking rack on baking sheet.

STEP 2: Arrange the wings on the baking sheet with some space between each one.

wings after baking; golden brown skin.

STEP 3: Bake for 45-50 minutes, flipping once halfway through until golden and crispy.

wings being tossed with buffalo sauce in large bowl.

STEP 4: Mix the buffalo sauce, butter, and brown sugar in a large bowl. While the wings are still hot, add them to the bowl and toss until evenly coated.
