Garlic Butter Shrimp With Sprite is one of my favorite Filipino dishes. I know it sounds weird to add Sprite to a savory dish, but it actually tastes really good. Sprite is just lemon flavoring, lime flavoring, and a lot of sugar. And when you think about it that way, it doesn’t seem as weird anymore. Humans always add citrus and sugar to their foods so why not just in the form of a soda?
In a large pan, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and season with salt and black pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes until both sides of the shrimp are pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp to a plate, leaving the butter behind.
Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the sprite and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the sauce reduces in volume by about half.
Add back the shrimp along with the chopped parsley and toss to evenly coat. Cook for 1 more minute and then serve immediately.
