About This Recipe
Woo! Me and my wife just got back from a mini vacation down in Victoria, BC. The weather was beautiful, and there was so much fun stuff to do- fishing, crabbing, watching peacocks,... you name it. I'm even thinking of starting a travel blog now, maybe sometime near the end of this year when we go on our 3-week trip to Japan!
My wife attended her friend's bridal shower this weekend, and as usual, I was tasked with making an appetizer for everyone. Well, it was the day after we came back from our vacation, so I wasn't feeling like something complicated, so I settled on this super-easy smoked salmon dip.

This dip is perfect for potlucks, parties, or special events. It tastes best with some pita chips, fancy crackers, or some freshly baked bread on the side.
I've made this a few times before, and I've recently discovered the secret is to add mayonnaise and sour cream to the mixture. It helps lighten up the texture and makes it much easier to scoop. And the best part is that it comes together in only 15 minutes! All you do is chop and blend a bunch of ingredients together.
Key Ingredients

Smoked Salmon: There are a few types of smoked salmon at the grocery store, all of which will work for this recipe. You can use the soft, cold-smoked salmon, which usually comes in a flat sheet. Or you can use the hot smoked salmon, which is firmer, thicker, and usually comes in fillets. Or, you can use canned smoked salmon. I used the cold-smoked one.
Cream cheese: This is the base of the smoked salmon dip. I used regular-fat Philadelphia cream cheese.
Mayonnaise & sour cream: These help soften the texture of the dip, while also contributing some nice flavor. I love mayo!
Fresh dill: Fresh is the best, but you can also use dried dill.
Red onion & garlic: These provide a savory depth and kick to the dip.
Lemon juice: Helps brighten up the flavors and loosen up the texture.
Salt & black pepper: Add these to taste. Smoked salmon is already pretty salty, so you may not need any. Taste the dip after mixing and use your own judgement.
Instructions

STEP 1: Add all the ingredients except the salt and pepper to a food processor.

STEP 2: Blend for 15-30 seconds until it reaches your desired consistency

Smoked Salmon Dip
Ingredients
- 1 cup cream cheese (8 ounces)
- ยผ cup mayonnaise
- ยผ cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons fresh dill (chopped; or 1 teaspoon dried dill)
- 1 tablespoon red onion (minced)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ยฝ clove garlic (grated)
- 4 ounces smoked salmon (chopped; divided)
- salt and black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients except the salt and pepper to a food processor. Blend for 15-30 seconds until it reaches your desired consistency (I like it slightly chunky with salmon bits)
