About This Recipe
Ravioli lasagna is one of my favorite dishes to make for a crowd. When I first started cooking, I always used to bring it to potlucks cause it was easy to make, and everyone loved it. Fast forward to now, I still love to make it whenever I get invited to potlucks. Everybody loves lasagna!
Plus, this recipe is extremely easy to make. In fact, I would barely call it cooking. All the components of the ravioli bake are store-bought. The only "cooking" you need to do is to brown the Italian sausages and then mix them with the marinara sauce. After that, it's just layering the components and baking!
Recipes like this ravioli lasagna are a lifesaver when I don't feel like cooking. It comes together quickly and uses simple pantry ingredients, but it still tastes absolutely delicious.
The recipe I'm sharing below is the one I've used for many years. Everything is store-bought, but of course, if you're feeling fancy, you could make some of the components yourself. For example, you could use my spaghetti meat sauce in place of the Italian sausages and marinara.
Key Ingredients
Ravioli: I used spinach and cheese-flavored ravioli. Any kind will work, but keep in mind we are adding our own Italian sausages, so something without meat is better.
Marinara sauce: Use the best quality marinara sauce you can find. I recommend Rao's.
Ricotta cheese: No lasagna is complete without ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese)!
Mozzarella cheese: For sprinkling on top and also the inside.
Italian sausages: I used spicy Italian sausages. Feel free to use mild for a kid-friendly version.
Italian seasoning: Depending on how strong your marinara sauce is, you can add some Italian seasoning for extra flavor.
Instructions
STEP 1: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook and crumble the Italian sausages until no longer pink, about 3-4 minutes. If you are fat-adverse, you can drain the excess fat.
STEP 2: Stir in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning. Bring to a simmer and then remove from the heat.
STEP 3: Add 1 cup of the meat sauce to the bottom of a 9x9 casserole dish. Add half the ravioli. If you have lots of ravioli, feel free to overlap them.
STEP 5: Add the remaining half of the meat sauce.
STEP 6: Add half of the cottage cheese and mozzarella cheese.
STEP 7: Repeat the layers one more time.
STEP 8: Bake at 350°F for 35-40 minutes until lightly browned on top and the sides are bubbling. Enjoy!
