Learn to make a copycat Orange Julius at home from an obsessed Orange Julius fan! The first time I attempted an Orange Julius copycat was over 20 years ago, and I've slowly iterated on my original recipe. The one I'm sharing today is what I think to be VERY close to the original. And it's so easy to make!

About This Recipe
When I was a kid (around 2004-2005), I remember spending a lot of time trying to recreate Orange Julius at home. I remember following a couple of recipes online, but they always tasted a little off to me.
Since becoming an adult, I never really stopped the experimentation. Every few months, after having an Orange Julius at the mall or around the city, I end up trying to recreate it at home again. Recently, though, I think I've gotten really close.
I used to add vanilla extract because all the recipes online said to, but I started making it without it, and it tastes better in my opinion. I use an even ratio of milk and water and also add sweetened condensed milk as the sweetener. You can also use powdered sugar but try not to use granulated sugar as not all of it will dissolve.
Key Ingredients
Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate: I'm using Minute Maid frozen juice concentrate.
Sweetened Condensed Milk: A lot of recipes use sugar, but sugar will not dissolve completely in cold drinks. I prefer using sweetened condensed milk. The sugar is already dissolved, and you get a nice miky flavor. You can also use powdered sugar.
Milk + Water: Everyone knows that Orange Julius uses milk powder at their stores, but we can improve it by using real milk. But to get the flavor closer to the original, we need to dilute it with some water.
Ice Cubes: Of course, we need some ice cubes!
Instructions
STEP 1: Combine all the ingredients in a blender.
STEP 2: Blend until smooth.
📋 Recipe
Orange Julius
Ingredients
- ½ cup frozen orange juice concentrate
- 1 ½ cups water
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk (or use ⅓ cup powdered sugar and replace ½ cup of the water with milk)
- 1 cup ice cubes
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients to a blender cup. Blend on medium-high for 30 seconds until smooth. Enjoy!
- You can store leftover sweetened condensed milk in the freezer! Just cover the can with foil and it will stay good for up to 3 months. The beauty is that condensed milk will not freeze completely solid because of the sugar content. So you can easily scoop some out whenever you need it.
