About This Recipe
I swear, every year, the supermarkets run out of pumpkin pie spice during the fall baking season. I started buying mine in August just to be safe, but this year, it was already sold out at my grocery store! Maybe everyone else had the same idea as me, or maybe I just came at the wrong time and the shelves hadn't been restocked yet.
Anyway, I learned you can make your own pumpkin spice at home! It only takes 5 minutes, and the spice mix will last basically forever (obviously, it will get less potent after a few months, but there's nothing in it that should make it go bad).
The best part is that it uses basic pantry ingredients. I had everything I needed at home. But if you don't do too much baking or cooking, you might have to buy 1 or 2 ingredients, but it's still worth it when the grocery store runs out of pumpkin spice!
Key Ingredients

Ground cinnamon: Cinnamon is the base of my pumpkin pie spice recipe. It has a very warm flavor that just reminds me of autumn.
Ground ginger: Ginger has a nice kick to it, which is essential for the pumpkin pie spice.
Ground nutmeg: Nutmeg is one of the most recognizable spices in pumpkin spice. It has a warm, nutty, and aromatic flavor.
Ground cloves: I actually ran out of ground cloves, so I used my spice blender to grind up some whole cloves. The aroma was even better!
Ground allspice: Allspice has a fragrant, peppery flavor.
Instructions

STEP 1: Add all the ingredients to a bowl and mix. Use immediately or store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place indefinitely.
