    About This Recipe

There's nothing better than having a flavorful salad dressing ready in the fridge for a busy week. It makes whipping up a quick salad or side dish an easy task and, most importantly, a delicious one. Nothing is worse than making a delicious main course, and then having your family eat some raw vegetables lazily thrown on the side. This dressing transforms even the most boring veggies into something satisfying.

I first made this French dressing last week to season a taco salad, but I ended up with a lot of leftovers, so I've been drizzling it on veggies every day of the week. It's sweet, tangy, and creamy, and made with simple pantry staples like ketchup, apple cider vinegar, and oil. It's ready in 5 minutes, and no food processor is required. And once you've made it, it'll last for up to one week in the fridge.

    Key Ingredients

    ingredients prepped in bowls.

Oil: The base of this salad dressing is made with oil. I used vegetable oil, but any neutral-flavored oil, like canola or avocado, will work. If you want to use extra virgin olive oil, I suggest limiting it to about half the amount, otherwise it may be too bitter.

Ketchup: This is where the bright red color and sweet and tangy flavor come from.

Apple cider vinegar: I love the flavor of apple cider vinegar in this recipe. You can also use white vinegar.

Sugar: Many French dressing recipes use A LOT of sugar. Personally, I do not like consuming that much sugar in a salad, since it's meant to be healthy, so I've toned it down a lot in my recipe. If you want, you can add up to another โ…“ of a cup.

Seasonings: Paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to taste.

    Instructions

    ingredients being whisked in bowl.

STEP 1: Whisk together all the ingredients in a medium bowl until smooth and creamy. Use immediately or transfer to an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to one week.
