These Buffalo Cauliflower Wings with homemade buffalo sauce are seriously addictive. They come together in less than 30 minutes and are great for a Super Bowl party.

    About This Recipe

I love cauliflower. There are so many ways to cook it. You can roast it, stir-fry it, turn it into a soup, etc... But I especially love it as a meat substitute for traditionally meat-based dishes.

These buffalo cauliflower wings are the vegetarian version of buffalo chicken wings. They're delicious as an appetizer, for dinner, or as part of a Super Bowl spread. Start by breaking the cauliflower into small florets, then toss them in a mixture of spices, flour, and cornstarch. Roast for 20-25 minutes (a little charring is good), then toss them in a homemade buffalo sauce (well, mostly homemade... we're using Frank's RedHot sauce, so not completely).

I was initially going to serve these with ranch sauce, but I completely forgot in the chaos of the kitchen. However, I think these are actually better without it. The flour and starch on the outside absorb a lot of the buffalo sauce, so they are super flavorful on their own. Adding a dipping sauce on the side might make them a bit too much.

    Key Ingredients

    ingredients prepped in bowls.

Cauliflower: I used one medium head of cauliflower. If you double the recipe, you'll need to bake them on two separate trays since you don't want to overcrowd one baking sheet. Overcrowding will cause the cauliflower to steam instead of roasting.

Olive oil: I coat the cauliflower in olive oil before adding the spices, so that the spices adhere to the cauliflower better.

Spice mixture: You'll need all-purpose flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and salt.

Buffalo sauce: You'll need Frank's RedHot Original sauce, melted butter, and brown sugar. You could also just use Frank's Buffalo sauce instead, but I like homemade better.

    Instructions

cauliflower mixed with oil in bowl.

STEP 1: In a large bowl, toss the cauliflower with the oil.

flour and spice mixture in bowl.

STEP 2: In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, spices, and salt.

seasoned cauliflower arranged on baking sheet.

STEP 3: Add the spice mixture to the bowl of cauliflower and toss to evenly coat. Spread the cauliflower evenly on the baking sheet.

    cauliflower after roasting in oven.

STEP 4: Bake for 20-25 minutes until crispy. Meanwhile, combine the buffalo sauce ingredients in a large bowl.
