Bisquick Dumplings are the perfect way to use up that leftover box of Bisquick in your pantry. My favorite way to cook these is in a chicken stew, but feel free to add this to any type of soup or stew you want. They're so easy to make and take less than 15 minutes.

I don't know about you, but I always have a box of Bisquick in my pantry. I use it mainly for pancakes and waffles, but I recently learned that people use it for a bunch of different things, like dumplings (thanks, TikTok!).

P.S. If you're looking for a more legit way to make dumplings, try my Newfoundland doughboys recipe (doughboys are just another word for dumplings, it's what they call it in Eastern Canada). That recipe is made 100% from scratch and is one of my most popular recipes on Pinterest! Give it a try and let me know what you think.

    box of Bisquick.

    Mixing the dough

I've tested a bunch of Bisquick-to-milk ratios, and I've settled on a 3:1 ratio being the best. The dumplings come out soft and fluffy, and they form a nice ball shape. One extremely important step is to not overmix the batter. You want to treat the batter just like a pancake batter and mix until JUST combined. It should look like this:

just barely combined dough in bowl.

    Let the dough rest

After making the dough, I suggest letting it rest for 15 minutes. The reason is because the gluten strands will be very tight at first. You want to give it some time to relax which will make the dumplings more soft and tender.

    Bisquick Dumplings

Bisquick dumplings are easy to make and a simple way to elevate a soup or stew. I learned this method from Tiktok and I tried it in my Chicken stew last week and it turned out AWESOME.

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups Bisquick
    • โ…” cup milk

    Instructions

    • Add the Bisquick to a medium bowl. Add the milk and mix until JUST combined. Do not overmix or the dumplings will be tough.
    • When your soup or stew is boiling, dip a spoon in the soup or stew, then scoop a ball of dough and drop it into the pot. Add as many dumplings as you can fit, then cover with a lid and cook for 12-15 minutes.
    • Be careful not to overcook these as I find they tend to disintegrate if they go too long. Enjoy.

    Notes

The ratio of Bisquick to milk is 3:1 so you can easily scale this recipe for a crowd. Use 1 cup of Bisquick per โ…“ cup of milk.

You need to keep the heat lower - just a gentle simmer. Also make sure nothing is already stuck to the bottom of your stew before adding the dumplings

Water will work fine for this. Maybe add some melted butter or oil

I love Bisquick for my Dumplings. So much easier than mixing shortening and flour ratios is kind of tricky. They always come back for more.
