These Bisquick Biscuits are incredibly easy to make and come out just as flaky as regular biscuits. The key here is to use cold butter and cheese and to refrigerate the Bisquick mixture for 15 minutes. This will allow the gluten to relax (for more tender biscuits) and also harden the butter (for more flaky biscuits)!
Bisquick biscuits. Say that 10 times quickly without messing up. It might be one of the tastiest tongue twisters you ever make :^)
Last week, I made dumplings from Bisquick, and this week, I’m finishing up the box to make some cheddar biscuits. I love having Bisquick at home. It's so convenient and saves me a bunch of time preparing the dry ingredients. I've found that Bisquick can be used for any type of baking where flour and baking powder are involved. Like muffins or biscuits!
Ingredients
For this recipe, you will only need four ingredients: Bisquick, butter, cheddar cheese, and milk. In actuality, you only need Bisquick and milk, but I love adding butter and cheddar cheese because the butter makes it more flaky, and the cheese makes it taste better.
How To Make It
STEP 1: Use a pastry cutter or fork to work the butter and cheddar cheese into the Bisquick mix. The mixture should look like coarse bread crumbs. Now transfer the mixture to the fridge for at least 15 minutes to cool down. This will make the biscuits more tender and flaky.
STEP 2: Roll out the dough into a ½-inch thick rectangle, and cut it into whatever shapes you want (I used a cookie cutter to cut it into circles, but you could use a knife to slice it into triangles or squares). Transfer the pieces of dough to a greased baking sheet.
STEP 3: Bake at 400°F until the tops are lightly browned. After baking, feel free to brush on some salted butter to add more flavor and a bit of shine to the top.

Bisquick Biscuits
Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cups Bisquick (plus more for dusting)
- ⅓ cup butter
- ⅔ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ⅔ cup milk
Instructions
- Add the Bisquick, butter, and shredded cheese to a large bowl. Use a pastry cutter to work in the butter and cheese until the mixture is crumbly like coarse bread crumbs. Refrigerate for 15 minutes (this will make them flakier).
- Preheat your oven to 400°F and grease a large baking sheet.
- Gently stir the milk into the Bisquick mixture until JUST combined. Be careful not to overmix, otherwise the biscuits will be dense; there should be plenty of lumps.
- Dust your work surface with Bisquick. Using a rolling pin, flatten the dough into a ½-inch thick rectangle. Cut into shapes using a cookie cutter or knife and place them on the greased baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the tops are lightly brown. Enjoy!
