This Big Mac Salad is a low-carb version of the world-famous burger! I grew up eating Big Macs at McDonald's, and turning those flavors into a salad made it even better. It's crunchy, healthy, packed with all the classic toppings, and dare I say.. even tastier!

    About This Recipe

This salad tastes exactly like a Big Mac- seriously! Even I was surprised when I tried it. The Big Mac is such a signature flavor of McDonald's that I never thought I'd be able to replicate it at home, but with the right ingredients, it's spot on!

Just imagine everything about the Big Mac but without the buns- crunchy iceberg lettuce, dill pickles, minced onions, cheddar cheese, ground beef, and of course, Big Mac sauce. It's incredibly easy to put together. In fact, the only cooking required is to pan-fry the ground beef. I cooked my ground beef in a nonstick pan with only a little bit of black pepper and salt.

What I love about this salad is that it's great for meal prep. My wife bought these little salad dressing containers so we pack the sauce separately, and keep the rest of the ingredients in another container. That way, they don't mix together and get soggy. The beef still tastes great cold so you don't need to microwave anything. Perfect for work, a picnic, or even a kid's lunch.

    Key Ingredients

    ingredients prepped in bowls.

Big Mac Sauce: For the sauce, you'll need mayonnaise, yellow mustard, relish, minced onions, white vinegar, paprika, and black pepper. I used to be friends with this chef and this was the recipe that he always used when he replicated McDonald's at home.

Iceberg lettuce: This is my favorite lettuce to use because it has a bit of crunchiness.

Cooked lean ground beef: I cooked the beef in a nonstick pan until it was no longer pink. I actually let it cook a bit longer to let some browning happen on the meat.

Cheddar cheese: Feel free to add as much as you want.

Onions: You can mince or slice them.

Dill pickles: Heinz Hamburger Dill Pickles are the closest you'll get to what McDonald's uses.
