These Air Fryer Fried Pickles are the perfect way to snack without feeling too guilty. They come out just as crispy as the deep-fried ones and, in my opinion, do not compromise on the flavor at all. I used dill pickles for this recipe, but you can switch it up with any type of pickle you want.

About This Recipe
I absolutely love deep-fried pickles! Whenever my wife and I go to a pub downtown, we make sure to order them, and it's always a highlight of the night. My favorite place serves them with a creamy ranch/sour cream and onion dressing, so I decided to do the same with my recipe. But if you're feeling lazy, feel free to skip the sauce.
Since I'm trying to do less deep-frying at home, I thought air-frying would be the perfect option for this recipe. I was skeptical if they'd be as crispy, but they were just as good, if not better, because they were not as greasy. One important step is to dry the pickles before breading them otherwise the egg wash won't stick to them.
Key Ingredients
Pickles: I'm using pre-sliced dill pickles, but you can use any pickle you want. If you use whole pickles, make sure to slice them either lengthwise or into coins. In my experience, thicker cut is better too.
Egg wash: The egg wash is made with eggs, flour, tabasco, salt, and pepper. You can add as much Tabasco as you want! Also, feel free to substitute it with other hot sauces or even sriracha.
Panko breadcrumbs: These are Japanese-style breadcrumbs. I like using these over regular breadcrumbs because they are flakier and have a more crunchy texture. Of course, regular breadcrumbs would work here as well.
Sour cream and onion dip: This is my favorite dip for fried pickles. Just combine sour cream, mayonnaise, onions, garlic, dried dill, salt, and pepper.
Instructions
STEP 1: Dry the pickles with paper towels. You want the pickles to be completely dry so that the egg wash can stick to them. If the pickles are wet, the egg wash will not stick to them.
STEP 2: Dip the pickles in the egg wash and shake off excess.
STEP 3: Coat both sides of the pickle in bread crumbs and transfer to a baking sheet while you bread the rest.
STEP 4: Transfer the pickles in a single layer in the air-fryer basket, spray with oil, and air-fry for 5-7 minutes on each side.

- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ cup minced onions (the finer the better)
- 1 clove garlic (minced)

- In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, flour, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper.
- In another shallow dish, add the breadcrumbs.
- Working one at a time, dip a pickle in the egg wash, coat in breadcrumbs, then transfer to a baking sheet.
- Preheat your air-fryer to 400°F. Add the pickles in a single layer with some space between each pickle. Spray with oil and air-fry for 5-7 minutes. Flip and spray with more oil, and air-fry for another 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
