Classic Apple Pie

This old-fashioned apple pie is easy to make, and will have grandmas asking you for the recipe! It has two buttery pie crusts filled with gooey cinnamon apples.

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F and set the rack in the lower-middle position.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the apples, lemon juice, flour, sugars, and spices.
  • Line a 9-inch pie plate with the bottom crust.
  • Pour the apple mixture into the crust, and dot with the butter.
  • Roll the second pie crust and place it on top of the apple mixture.
  • Press the edges of both pie crusts together to seal and crimp the edges. Cut slits in the top of the pie to create some vents for steam to escape.
  • Brush the crust with egg wash and sprinkle with additional sugar, if desired.
  • Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce the heat to 375°F and continue baking for 35-45 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  • Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
