Buttermilk Waffles

  • Begin preheating your waffle iron.
  • To a large bowl, add the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix.
  • To a medium bowl, add the buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until JUST combined. Do not overmix. It's okay if the batter is lumpy.
  • Spray the waffle iron with oil. Scoop about ½-1 cup of batter into the center. Close the waffle iron and cook until golden brown. Remove the waffle and repeat with the rest of the batter.

Notes

Buttermilk: To substitute with regular milk, add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar to a liquid measuring cup, then fill to the 2 cups line with milk.
