This is my favorite bread pudding recipe! Cozy, rich, and irresistible. The inside is soft and custardy, while the top is golden and crisp. Finished off with the perfect vanilla sauce.
Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease an 8x8 baking dish.
Spread the bread cubes in the baking dish. Sprinkle on the raisins (if using).
In a large bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, sugar, butter, vanilla extract, and cinnamon together until well combined.
Pour over the bread cubes.
Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top starts getting too brown, you can place a piece of tinfoil over the top.
For the vanilla sauce, add everything except the butter to a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth. Remove from the heat and stir in the butter. Pour over the bread pudding.
