    About This Recipe

Everyone loves a Big Mac. When I was a kid, I used to dream about working at McDonald's just so I could learn how to make them! I never ended up working there, but over the years, I did replicate it many times at home, and I have to say...my sauce is pretty damn close to the real thing. Actually, when I make this for friends and family, they say it's even better than McDonald's.

If you've never tried making Big Mac Sauce before, it's very simple to do with basic pantry ingredients. The ingredients are similar to Thousand Island dressing, but with the addition of spices, like paprika and garlic powder. It's so delicious and easy to make. And it keeps well in the fridge too, so your favorite burger sauce is never too far away!

    Key Ingredients

    ingredients prepped in bowls.

Mayonnaise: A good-quality mayonnaise is key to making Big Mac Sauce at home. I love the Hellman's and Miracle Whip brands, but more recently, I've taken a liking to the Costco brand of mayonnaise.

Ketchup: I know a lot of people disagree with adding ketchup to Big Mac Sauce, but I think just a spoonful adds so much flavor and makes it even better.

Sweet relish: Adds texture and tanginess! If you don't have relish, you could also use finely minced pickles with a bit of pickle juice.

Minced onions: For savory depth and pungency.

White vinegar: I like my sauce quite tangy, so I add a bit more white vinegar than usual. Feel free to add less.

Yellow mustard: Make sure you use the classic yellow mustard and not Dijon. Yellow mustard is more tangy, which is what we want.

Spices: Paprika, garlic powder, and a bit of sugar.

    Instructions

all ingredients mixed together in metal bowl.

STEP 1: Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl- that's it! Use immediately or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to one week.
